Important: Facebook video delivery is not a part of the standard AWAL service currently and this offering will only affect AWAL members who have distributed videos through AWAL in the past. If you’re unsure if we’ve delivered video for you at AWAL, please get in touch via the Contact Us page on your Workstation.
Facebook has a Premium Music Video offering, currently live only in the United States. This service means your fans can easily access your official music videos in a special dedicated Music Videos section on your Facebook page. This is an incredible opportunity as Facebook’s new video feature can help you easily share your videos with your audience, engage with fans, and drive views on your videos through the platform.
In order to see any AWAL-delivered videos in the dedicated Videos section of your page, you’ll need to give Facebook permission to publish these videos to your page. Please follow the steps below to activate your videos for Facebook Premium Video:
Important: You must be an Admin on the artist's Facebook page in order to take the below actions.
- Navigate to the Music Videos section of the artist’s Page Settings.
Note: You may also see a pop up banner on the artist’s Facebook page and/or you may have received a notification or email about Facebook Premium Video delivery from Facebook. You can use any of these methods to locate the Music Videos section of the settings as well.
- Once you’ve located the Music Videos section of the artist page Settings, click the blue button that says ‘Add Music Videos to my Page'.
- Optional: Once you click the ‘Add Music Videos to my Page’ button you’ll see more information populate. Tick the box next to ‘Automatically share all new music videos to your Page's timeline’ if you want new video deliveries to automatically post to your timeline on release day. This can be a great way to help viewers locate the video in your New Feed easily & automatically from live date.
- Check to see if your videos are appearing in the Content Management area of your page.
Important: If you cannot find your videos on your page or in the Content Management area of your profile, please complete the Facebook Form here to request a correction. You must be logged in as a Page Admin on the artist page in question to access this form. Be sure to include the ISRC of your track as well as the video delivery batch ID, which you can request via the Contact Us page on your Workstation, with the form.
If the above actions are not taken, Facebook will allocate your videos to a separate official music video page titled ‘[Artist Name] - Official Music’. The videos will still be available for your fans to watch, however, they will not be as easily discoverable and won’t be directly shared to your Page’s followers.
Moving forward, the new videos you submit for delivery through AWAL will be delivered to Facebook by default. These videos will automatically go live on the Music Videos tab of your page.
We’ve outlined some best practices and tips below to keep in mind related to Facebook’s Premium Video offering:
- You can track the performance of your videos in Facebook’s Creator Studio on desktop and the Creator Studio app.
- Be sure to tag your videos with relevant keywords as well as with any associated artists or collaborators.
- Do not include links to other video platforms in Facebook posts containing your Premium Video content.
- Post high-quality stills and teasers to your Facebook page in advance of a video release. Be sure to include the date and time of the live full video post to keep fans engaged with your video’s release.
- Use Facebook’s ‘Premieres’ feature to debut your music videos. When you schedule a Premiere, an announcement post will automatically post to your Facebook page so fans can engage and also subscribe to the page to be notified when your video goes live. When the video goes live, the Premiere will convert to a Video post but all existing like, comments, and shares will remain on the post!
- Organize your videos into Playlists! Think outside the box with these playlists and get creative with themes. For example, consider making a mood-based playlist and adding some of your Premium Videos associated to your ‘happy’ tracks to a playlist. It’s better to focus themes on events, moods, etc. rather than include too many Premium Music Videos from one EP/album in a playlist.
