Instant Gratification tracks (IG tracks) are those that are available to download from a release during the pre-order period. They can be automatically downloaded when the entire release is pre-ordered or individually purchased starting from a specific date during the pre-order period.
Note: IG Tracks are not standalone singles but rather they will appear on your full product’s pre-order in black and available to purchase, with the rest of your tracks unavailable and greyed out. Below you will find an example of an EP with two tracks available as IG tracks:
There are a few important things to remember when deciding whether to make Instant Grat tracks available as part of your release:
- Instant Grat tracks are only available on iTunes or Amazon. They are also available to stream on Apple Music.
- You can request IG tracks in the Product Builder. Only up to half of the tracks on a release can be IG tracks. If the number of tracks on a release is an odd number, please round it down when selecting IG tracks. For example, if there are 7 tracks on your release, only 3 of them could be IG tracks.
- Your release will be available to ‘Pre-add’ on Apple Music if there is at least 1 Instant Gratification track included on it
- If you would like an IG track to also go live across all other platforms you can hit the button during the Product Build process to have that single product built for you.
Please notify us if you're planning on using live singles as IG tracks as it's generally best practice to not have a track live as both a single and an IG. Only having the Instant Gratification track on Apple is a great way of driving listeners to your new Pre-order.
